Fingerspelling is a method of spelling words using hand movements. The fingerspelling alphabet is used in sign language to spell out names of people and places for which there is not a sign.

The Introducing BSL course is great value and highly flexible. It covers all the basics for a simple conversation and gives useful background information about Deafness that I would never have known otherwise. I completed the course with my partner and found it particularly useful and fun to have someone to learn with and practice alongside. - A brilliant way to start learning BSL for me and amazing value for money as well. I start my Signature level 1 award soon and hope this will be the first step towards becoming fluent. I would recommend it to everyone wanting to learn BSL as it is a great way to learn the basics before starting an actual course in a classroom, i think it is especially good for people in work place environments to do this course as there just arent enough deaf aware companies/employees. My employer is paying for my course as they realise that not only does it benefit me but them as a diverse company also.
